This collection of resource sheets for students and teachers explores the foundations of Australia's legal system including the principles that underpin the law, and the roles and operations of the court system with particular reference to Western Australia. A scripted mock trial examines the operation of courts and structured research activities explore the clash of laws between first peoples and early setters in Western Australia. The resources are designed to provide pre- and post-visit activities following an excursion to the Old Court House in Perth but would also be of value as part of classroom units of work in history and civics and citizenship. Activities include research, vocabulary building, creative responses and include assessment tasks. Teacher resources are accessible using the password FrancisBurt2015.
