This is a teaching-learning resource containing teaching strategies and student activities that support an investigation of environmental issues related to food production and transportation, with a focus on chocolate production and cacao farming in Ecuador. The resource has eight tabs, seven of which are relevant. The first tab provides an introduction, and the next four set out the suggested pedagogical sequence: identifying the ingredients of chocolates and their origin; researching the sustainability of cacao farming in tropical environments; and investigating the cost of food transportation. The seventh tab provides an assessment rubric while the eighth provides links to resources including species profiles, a slide show and information about Ecuador.
