This set of interactive activities from the Languages online resource encourages students to engage in social interactions by talking about their family. The activities cover introducing and asking about family members, learning culturally specific forms and reinforcing past learning experiences such as asking ages as a way of greeting and using different terms for maternal and paternal grandparents and older and younger siblings. Student activities include listening and responding, matching Chinese characters to English translations and practising learning comprehension through a quiz show format. Instructions in English, immediate feedback, hints and a glossary are provided for each activity, as well as resources for teachers including printable activities and flashcards.
