This resource is a Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) web page with information about the history, purpose and operations of Bureau stations, and an explanation of the different types of station, from fully-staffed stations measuring all weather elements to stations with only remote rainfall-recording instruments. Some stations are classified as Reference Climate Stations (RCS) for their contribution to high-quality, long-term data for climate monitoring. Images show examples of different types of station. Key words and phrases are linked to further details and there is a link to the Australian Data Archive for Meteorology (ADAM), the BOM's climate database that stores all weather data recorded at the stations.
