RACE, RIGHTS & RIVALRIES

This resource allows you to explore stories and historical items relating to Broome’s changing multicultural population. With a focus on citizenship rights, it highlights the treatment and experiences of differing groups and individuals who have lived in the area over time.

The virtual museum is supported by educational activities for upper primary students which support the Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum.

Since the beginning of time (bugarrigarra), the land and sea in and around Broome has been the traditional country of the Yawuru and Djugun peoples.

Content Warning: Some of the historical source material presented in this resource includes offensive and derogatory terms and perspectives that are considered unacceptable today. Records may also include references to, or images of Aboriginal people who have died.
